Racer at Heart, Racer by Passion –How to Become a Professional Dirt Biker

I was barely seven when my dad’s bike thrilled me – I thought it was all about fun – to sit on the oil tank and go out for a ride with him. Then when I was ten I thought bikes are an intriguing beauty – back then the bikes that limited features but they were such masterpieces and everything about them thrilled me.

By the time I got my first bicycle I was eleven and that is how this entangled love story began. Honestly, I spent more hours riding that bicycle and trying to do stunts than I spent studying (and, I regret nothing about it). Those were fun days for sure butb also the most challenging because I could foresee I had a tough job ahead of convincing my parents let me be a professional biker (you see parents do not want you to just go race and drive the meter out).

But, here I was – a professional dirt biker at the tender age of 19.

Long story short – I spent the 8 years of my life just working hard – driving more, learning more, and learning more. That never ended and I became what I thought I was good at – race and speed and bikes.

But, that’s my story and the reason I am here narrating this is because there are numerous lads like me who are thrilled by bikes and speed, and some of them may even want to pursue a career in the sport. So, here’s to all of you – a lot of information that will be helpful in helping you become a professional dirt biker.

Read further and get the information you need –

1. Learn the Skill - The first and the most important thing that you need to know is to learn the skill if you are serious about the sport and being a professional at it.

You can start practicing at a mountain bike because this bike will give you a clear idea of what you can expect in the future.
After setting up your bike and protective gear, you can start free styling on the BMX in a parking lot or a skate park, or even in front of your house. Skate parks will typically have other bike riders to illustrate basic skills.

2. Buy a Dirt Bike and Learn Riding It - Buying a dirt bike will not be an easy task considering that there are many models and brands available that may also be a cause of some confusion for you. Beginners commonly opt for used dirt bikes as they will go through levels of damage as a starter learns the mechanics of the sport.

Trail bikes are the most popular motorcycles for dirt bikers, and they are fashioned to be used on rough terrain. Motocross bikes are ideal for high speeds and performance.

3. Buy Decent Gear But Don’t Compromise on Quality – It is not just the helmet that you need but also other equipment that are an important part of the sport.

Make sure you do not go for something that is over the top rather choose something decent but worth. Do not compromise on the quality because that is not something you would like to do when it comes to choosing protective gear.

Understand the importance of all protective gear and buy whatsoever you think is important for you. Some important ones that you need include the helmet, boots, knee pads, elbow pads, jackets, pants, goggles, etc.

4. Practice Regularly at the Tracks – Remember practice is everything! Never give up on the practice because that is how you become a professional at everything you do. Go to the tracks every day and give yourself enough time to practice the game because that is exactly what will make you a winner in your race.

Most track venues will often impose strict regulations of use. Well-established circuits are the ideal locations as they will have different layouts to accommodate various skill levels. Understand your track and the efficiency of your dirt bike because honestly these are all important things and need to be considered well.

5. Hire a Coach – You could be great at the sport but you definitely need someone to help you get better at it and that is why hiring a good coach is important. Hire someone with experience who will help you not only ride better but also train you in choosing the perfect gear for you.

Additionally, a good coach does not have to be out in the fields every day but should be studying other races and riders to supplement their knowledge. Also, the coach keeps track of a rider’s times and also trains them on different techniques used by pros.

Picking on a good coach is essential as you do not want an inexperienced instructor wasting your time with unnecessary guides. A coach will not only point out your mistakes but will also help with your training schedule.

6. Create a Workout Plan – You should be healthy and there is no compromise that can be done on this. Exercise and your diet will determine a lot of things about your health as a rider especially if you want to ride on difficult tracks.

Create a strict workout plan for you and allow for any variations that may be required from time to time. Remember there is no single workout program that can be followed by all riders and athletes. Trainers customize each program depending on the body type, goals, and injuries of a dirt bike rider and that is definitely an important point to consider.

Regular riding is the most important workout plan for a rider, but since it is not always possible to race every day, you should supplement with other plans.

7. Driving Licence is Imperative – Nothing works until you have a driving license so make sure you get that even before you’re hitting the tracks for your routine practice. Once you become a member, it is good practice to download and evaluate the organization’s competition rulebook. You will know which nationally-certified classes you can enter and how to configure your bike to become competition legal.

These points mentioned above are the first few things that are absolutely imperative if you are looking for a real career in motocross and wish to be a professional dirt biker.

Look into these points and consider all of them for a good career at the sport.
